Lila Afiouni’s paintings come from a continuing fascination with
colour, shape and composition. These constructions have been
developed by a language enriched with psychological reference to
the urban environment, their combinations taken from city lights, streets,
architectural facades and ocean vistas.
Their variegated structures explore the dynamic between light and
tone, forming a vast shadow of drama across its surface. The interplay of
shape, line and space are paramount to their interaction with colour.
